America Has a Monarchical Complex

America has come full circle.  A people descendant from those that once rebelled against their homeland of England to be individuals rather than subjects has proven to be fickle or bipolar.  After over 200 years of demanding individual rights and discarding the ideas of monarchy/aristocracy and communism, the nation now appears to want a bit of both.  America believes in having equal rights and provision for everyone but she now wants a monarchical/aristocracy personality to administer it.  Its people have become too individualistic and divided and demand a strong hand for leadership.  America wants a king or queen!  Never mind integrity, right or wrong; the only question is who best would serve as this new monarchical ruler.

Our nation has been unique in the western hemisphere because of choosing democracy, a system of rule that allows its citizens to have a voice in the governing power over them.  The founders of the nation had seen the confusion, tyranny, greed of rulers and poverty for citizens that were produced when one person solely had his or her way in governing a people.  So the founders used wisdom in dividing the power structure of the developing nation into the three sectors of legislative, judicial and administrative governing authority and gave the deciding voice ultimately to the people as they chose their leaders. American citizens have enjoyed great freedom and financial benefits under democracy as a form of government while many surrounding nations are still subjected to the rule of a single person or party and experience great poverty under their monarchy, aristocracy or dictator type of government.

When the American people fell into a time of great poverty during the Great Depression, our three-party governmental system approved a system of provision for its citizens that put food on everyone’s table.  When threaten by war, our three-party political system made the united decision with the people’s approval to go to war and defend the nation.  When the people protested the horror of unjust war and burden of its cost, our government leaders had to listen and consider cessation of war. The nation permits any qualified citizen the opportunity to become political leader or president. Corrupt leaders can expect to be exposed and prosecuted. Citizens have the right to be whatever they desire and are willing to work for while having their voice heard.  This has been the American way of life.

In any place where there is plenteous supply and inadequate accountability, people can become dependent subject to the crafty who boldly plunder the defenseless.  While the U.S. government defended the rights of the poor in America, some level of balance was maintained.  But the persuasion of wealthy companies using lobbying and payoffs to influence congressional leaders, media slant, and financing of political candidates have caused some to gain power and their way in U.S. society.   The powerlessness of people to prevail against an overpowering wealthy sector that deliberately attack the people’s rights and persuade government toward their efforts have caused the people to crave strong leadership in government for their protection.

History has always worked as a preventative weapon to keep us from repeating the bad judgment of the past.  But a people at ease and rest tend to ignore their required responsibility of ensuring sound government and leadership while they are in the midst of enjoying their leisure and pleasures.  Over two hundred years of freedom has dulled the minds of American citizens about the founding of this nation from oppressive monarchical rule in Europe and American rights have been taken for granted.  Now that the nation is headed back to that same kind of oppressive government, American citizens are seeking an answer in the same proven system of erroneous monarchical-style leadership that was previously experienced in Europe.  This error shows that our nation has failed to rehearse our history for the people and uphold these learned lessons in our school textbooks, literature and media. We hear the age-old cry: “Give us a king to judge us” (1Sa 8:6).

The primary reason the nation has arrived at its present predicament though is the failure of moral leadership which has always come through our churches.  The wealthy have influenced our political leaders but that influence has also subjected our moral leaders to laws and persuasion that bind the voice of truth through the preached word.  It was the strong voice of religious leaders that influenced the early founders and politicians of the nation in moral guidance. Laws and policies pertaining to “equal rights for all” were derived from the promises and values taken from bible scriptures that kept the majority of American citizens and politicians convicted enough to follow a moral path. The silence of preachers and their failure to confront sin and immorality in all areas of our civilian life have given license to the rise of immoral leaders from an immoral population who covet wealth as incentive rather than righteous leadership.  We have witnessed one by one the compromise of our leaders in politics, business and ministry as they sought wealth and pleasure over a life of integrity and solemn leadership.

America was begun with strong desires for individual rights, religious freedom, fair taxes and equality for all people.  These rights were promoted through the commitment of strong God-fearing, bible believing citizens who became preachers, business owners and politicians.  Now that our nation is refusing the religious and spiritual aspects of our past, we are to seeing a quickening downward spiral in morality and politics of the nation.

Where the nation started out proclaiming itself to be “One Nation under God” and seeking God through congressional and public prayer for guidance, it has now decided to throw off trust in God in favor of the personal guidance of a leader and his or her individual beliefs.  Whereas God taught us to have no other God before Him and expected the nation to evolve into a place where it realized the need for every person to have integrity and God’s personal guidance through Christ, the nation has instead decided consolidate its voice behind the head and heart of one person without any proof of a relationship with God. God rightly prophesied today’s dilemma:

“And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them” 1Sa 8:7

God went on to advise Samuel to tell the people what kind of leader they would have because of asking for a human monarchical leader or king.  God, who promised to reign over them as Lord and supply all their needs with love and kindness, was rejected for a trust in man and his governmental rule over them.  We have seen a lean toward human monarchical rule in our churches for years as one-person-leadership has become the rule rather than the multi-level, multi-leader style leadership established by Christ (Eph 4:11).  Even God reigns through a three-person agreement of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  We have seen the advantages and disadvantages of man’s rule as president and politicians as they have led us according to their values.  We have the advantage of knowing what kind of government we can expect from the candidates of our choice for president and lower political offices through their political statements and reports through the media.

American has come full circle by rejecting God and the best example thus far for civilian rule under God’s authority.  This nation has become more like the nations it was formed from rather than the nation it set out to be. The warnings of the forefathers have been ignored and the failed example of past nations has not deterred our people from following the same path. There is always an opportunity and hope of turn around from a destructive path; but regardless of what happens from this point forward, we all can know that we cast our vote and made our choice.

Whippings and the Image in the Mirror

Whippings…are they legal? Are whippings recommended or permissible for parents to administer to their children? The topic of whipping is trending today in newscasts and social media. Whippings are nothing new particularly for the black community who often grew up under the whipping belt or switch. Many parents in the black community believed that sparing the rod by withholding a good whipping spoiled the child and they had scripture to prove it.

Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying. Pro 19:18

There is no doubt that a parent can be abusive in administering corporal punishment and certainly discipline should not be done in an unreasonable manner. But there are some people who are appalled that whipping is done at all. They were not reared with this kind of correction and believe it to be inhumane. Prisons are full of criminals and children that got no correction at home but yet we debate the use of proper corporal punishment while crimes by children have greatly risen from homes without proper discipline.

In the black community, parents believed strongly in corporal punishment and, to make things all the worst, parents would tell the misbehaving child to go get his own switch off the tree outside. And if he did not get a sufficient switch then the parent would go get a proper one off the tree. Many of us learned quickly not to misbehave from mere mention of a switch or a parent’s look that promised a good whipping when we got home. We grew up knowing to do right or we would receive punishment. Teachers, neighbors or other children would report our wrongdoings and we would be dealt with when we got home. But within this generation are many children and adults who were not reared with this fear of punishment for doing wrong. Too many children were consoled with treats as reward if they would just do right or stop misbehaving. Some children are routinely sent to their room or a privilege taken away as punishment for misbehaving. There are many ways of correcting children. Modern instructors believe that corporal punishment is improper. Certainly not all methods are effective and we still debate today about the right way to get misbehaving children to comply. It is true that balance and proper instruction is needed in administering discipline to a child and not all children can be disciplined with the same method.

While we debate whether or not to use corporal punishment for misbehaving children, God has never changed His word or His practice of correcting His children. God believes in the whip. After all the Holy Spirit recorded this instruction for all posterity: “Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying” (Pro 19:18). The whip referred to here evidently was severe enough to cause pain and crying. God has used the whip through the ages to discipline Israel and the nations of the world.

I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men: 2Sa 7:14

A whip for the horse, a bridle for the ass, and a rod for the fool’s back. Pro 26:3

O LORD, rebuke me not in thy wrath: neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure. Psa 38:1

And the LORD said, Even thus shall the children of Israel eat their defiled bread among the Gentiles, whither I will drive them. Eze 4:13

As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. Rev 3:19

And as the evil figs, which cannot be eaten, they are so evil; surely thus saith the LORD, So will I give Zedekiah the king of Judah, and his princes, and the residue of Jerusalem, that remain in this land, and them that dwell in the land of Egypt: And I will deliver them to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth for their hurt, to be a reproach and a proverb, a taunt and a curse, in all places whither I shall drive them. Jer 24:8-9

The principles of the bible are timeless and given by an Omniscient God who Fathered the first children and disciplined them through several methods. Scripture reveal that God uses various methods of disciplining His children. One of the ways God show adults their sin is through their children. If we look closely we can see our own bad habits and sins in children’s behavior because they are like their parents, the very image. A looking glass shows us our own image so we can see ourselves the way others see us. We look in the mirror to correct a hair out of place or clothes in disarray. Other things can be a mirror for us besides children. Other people committing our personal sin can be a mirror that can sometimes cause us unknowingly to judge our sin as well. David condemned himself by looking at such a mirror supplied by God.

And David’s anger was greatly kindled against the man; and he said to Nathan, As the LORD liveth, the man that hath done this thing shall surely die: And he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity. And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul; …Wherefore hast thou despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in his sight? thou hast killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast taken his wife to be thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon. Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife. Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give them unto thy neighbour, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun. For thou didst it secretly: but I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun. And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the LORD. And Nathan said unto David, The LORD also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die. Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die. 2Sa 12:5-7, 9-14

These scriptures reveal that God use mirror imagery to reveal sin. In this example, the sinner was told the crime and punishment during the discipline as a teaching process.

God still uses the whip on individuals and nations to discipline bad behavior. We see God using the whip today but many do not recognize it because they do not understand or believe in use of the whip or use of corporal punishment. When people believe they are good, they cannot fathom being disciplined. God is whipping our nation and parts of the world today but America does not understand she is being whipped. She wonders what is going on because she is hurting but is not use to being whipped. The African American population, of all people, should understand but many black people are not paying attention to world events or are unconcerned. A great deal of Caucasian parents did not practice corporal punishment with their children and cannot easily recognize or understand these signs. But nevertheless America is being whipped to bring about correction. While America has refused Christian guidelines for moral behavior, they are, nevertheless, polling each other in society over what is acceptable or ethical behavior. Here is what God’s word has to say about this practice.

For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise. But we will not boast of things without our measure, but according to the measure of the rule which God hath distributed to us, a measure to reach even unto you. 2Co 10:12-13

When a child is disciplined they are usually told the reason and given a chance to repent. Because many people cannot hear God speaking, He is telling America its reason for being whipped through the visual pictures brought about by various reporting through the media. People are debating punishment in the news without realizing it. They are debating how to punish wrongdoing or fight back. The worst thing one can do when being whipped by a parent is to talk back, argue the punishment or fight back which usually brings twice the punishment. It is important to be careful what is said while under judgment.

Some people are looking in the mirror at their own behavior through the lives of others but not recognizing themselves because they have no righteous standard by which to judge. We are observing our nation go through a costly and time-consuming process of trying to improve on God’s plan for mankind. The Ten Commandments and the Word of God provided in the Old and New Testaments were planned as instruction to provide mirror imagery that would allow judgment of our own actions. This biblical resource answers the questions that people are still asking:
• What standard really measures what is moral and what is not?
• Is a man’s home his own personal kingdom allowing him to do what he wants?
• Are all people equal?
• Are women less valuable than men?
• Were women intended to be a mere tool for man’s pleasure?
• Is it okay to profit from other’s labor without proper compensation?
• Is wife beating a family matter?
• Is police brutality sanctioned as proper authority?
• What can be done about political corruption?
• What is the proper use of guns?
• Why are teenagers and adults committing suicide?
• What is the worth of the unborn life?
• Should the rich make the rules and lord over the poor?
• Do we owe respect to people in authority?

So while we look at this issue of whipping, we must admit that whippings were intended to be used by parents toward children as discipline and judgment for unrighteous behavior that would bring the child back to right behavior. Consider for yourself: After many years of practicing your particular type of discipline, has it proven to be successful for producing righteous, mature adults, ready for society. We do not agree as a nation about what is righteous behavior so it may take a while for many to see themselves through the mirrors presented before them. Let’s still hope and pray that we as individuals and nation realize the imagery in the mirror and correct bad behavior.

Hand of Correction

Thou hast forsaken me, saith the LORD, thou art gone backward: therefore will I stretch out my hand against thee, and destroy thee; I am weary with repenting. Jer 15:6

As I was meditating on the things of the Lord and my mind opened up to the Spirit, I heard:

“You are being corrected because you did not bring correction.”

On my television was a minister that I did not regard as a great guide for spiritual matters because of his narrow biblical focus. It was a message I had heard before and saw value in and considered it rather shallow in gospel truth. But as I listened, every word spoken chastened me on issues for which I had been struggling. I felt the laser of the Word of God go into my soul and slice it up into little pieces, revealing my error.  I wrestled a little at first but finally submitted to the correction and felt totally chastened. It had been a while. Having been taught truth by the Spirit of God and through Christian disciplines, I realized I had recently neglected in giving myself over for God’s instruction. Not every minister can reach the soul of the hearer but God knows how to reach us and I needed this session with God.

It was after accepting my chastisement that I heard the words: “You are being corrected because you did not bring correction.” It echoed in my soul as only God can. The same light that had shone on my issues like radar on the needle in the haystack now shone outward, near and far, on matters local and national. It was like the needle was now magnified a million times and could not be missed as I looked spiritually from one issue to the next.

Leaders Who Fail to Lead

I saw God opening up my understanding to reveal that this was a message not only for me but for others as well from the local to federal authorities that had failed to perform their job of bringing correction in the land under the authority God had given them: parents who failed to correct their children, preachers who failed to preach truth and correction, political leaders who failed to properly exercise their authority and so forth. These failures to bring correction had caused people under these authorities to continue walking in rebellious ways until corruption took over.

God give leaders the responsibility to guide and correct those under their leadership. They represent God’s authority and leadership in the land, but when they fail to deal in proper authority, they also fail to uphold God’s authority and they cause others to go astray. I saw that this error extended from parents, to pastors, to local authorities, to federal authorities and now applies to international problems. I saw that God was saying He is bringing correction because His leaders failed to bring correction. He is now bringing correction from the head downward. We have seen leaders tumble and were amazed but did not change. But now God is bringing correction to whole systems. I listened to an old taped message of a now-deceased minister who declared how America failed to hear the message of the “Towers.” He went on to say that America ran to the churches that Sunday after the World Trade Center towers fell; but because they did not hear a relevant message from God on the matter, they left and did not return. My heart dropped as I heard this message. I knew the tower disaster was a message but I did not realize the disappointment of those who went to churches to hear from God. This may help clarify the issue:

“There are tremendous differences between “motivational speaking” and “biblical preaching.” In America today, many churches offer one or the other. One approach leaves people “encouraged” in their emotions and in their “self-esteem.” The other builds up Christians in the Gospel as the Holy Spirit applies the Scriptures to the hearts and minds of the hearers… Motivational speakers are reluctant to say, “The Bible says.” They realize that many of their hearers don’t believe in the inerrancy of Scripture. Biblical preachers have taught God’s people to trust Scripture to be the inerrant “God-breathed” message of truth from the Lord. (2 Timothy 3:16)
Motivational speakers need to have personal charisma. Biblical preachers need to be humble in order to be anointed with the power of the Holy Spirit. Charisma influences emotions in the direction of self-actualization. The Holy Spirit influences the soul in the direction of godliness. Post-Christian America?

We are in a post-Christian America. It does not mean that there are no Christians here or that no one believes in Christ. What it does mean is that the religion of Christianity failed to stand the test when it came up for judging to prove if there was a God by the worldly people in the nation. Surveys were done over recent years and Christian leaders were found in doubt. Christian churches have had scandal after scandal as preachers proved themselves to be unfaithful to God. When celebrity Christian leaders were examined in the media, they failed to uphold the truth of the gospel and brought mockery to Christianity from unbelievers. Christian organizations were brought under scrutiny by the U.S. Congress as they were questioned regarding their Christian finances but were found to be evasive. They failed the test of transparency that Jesus illustrated.

The high priest then asked Jesus of his disciples, and of his doctrine. Jesus answered him, I spake openly to the world; I ever taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, whither the Jews always resort; and in secret have I said nothing. Joh 18:19 -20

There have been many tests of our Christianity and national integrity brought to public view and we have failed over and over again to stand up as a nation for righteousness. The failure of Christians or the church does not disprove God or make Him a liar. But because Christianity failed the test, new leaders have come to the forefronts that have no preference or respect for Christianity. They are those that examine matters through logic and research for evidence or proof before believing. They will not be persuaded by the bible or faith without solid facts for support. And now children are been brought up in this perversion of truth and will not believe what they cannot reason by logic or visibly see. Faith, nevertheless, is defined in bible scriptures by the One who gives faith:

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Heb 11:1

Christians were to produce the substance of faith that the world could examine and see God through us and our works as Christ produced miracles that the world could examine but not deny. The church was to continue producing miracles that local critics could see and believe until the nation and world would know of a certainty that there is a God. But from the local preachers to national leaders God has not been upheld as the Supreme Authority and the nation and world have suffered unbelief.

“In recent years, Pew Research surveys have found evidence of a gradual decline in religious commitment in the U.S. public as a whole. For example, there has been a modest uptick over the past decade in the share of U.S. adults who say they seldom or never attend religious services. The number of Americans who do not identify with any religion also has grown in recent years; indeed, about one-fifth of the public overall – and a third of adults under age 30 – are religiously unaffiliated as of 2012. Fully a third of U.S. adults say they do not consider themselves a “religious person.” And two-thirds of Americans – affiliated and unaffiliated alike – say religion is losing its influence in Americans’ lives.” – Source: Pew Research Religion & Public Life Project; http://www.pewforum.org. http://Source: Pew Research Religion & Public Life Project; http://www.pewforum.org.

A New America?

Many new leaders at the forefront of our nation have proven to be nonreligious skeptics and searchers of truth but they cause more doubt as they continue seeking truth through logic and finding none, give credence to more doubt. Because they are still researching and have invalidated or never believed past theories, they are now allowing more un-American and unchristian leaders to bring forth new theories into the consciousness of the masses by way of the media. They are our new preachers. Because Christianity did not teach our society how to grow up and mature as a nation, even while it is still judging and being judged, we are also learning a new morality through issues that are being evaluated and settled under “community judgment.” This “community court” is affecting decisions in religion, society, law enforcement, congressional legislation, the Supreme Court and in the White House. Yes, political correctness is now our new normal. The void brought about through failure to uphold the righteous standard has given way for new judgments. Some of you may remember from your bible the practice of community judgment by stoning people who never went to court but were judged in the streets. We seem to have regressed. Crowd justice will prevail where there is no true justice, righteous standard or true authority to lead. The void caused by preachers who would not preach the truth have given rise to new doctrines and moral guides.

The society we live in now is not being led or evaluated in terms of true Christian values so there will not be a true judging or solution of matters to bring about satisfactory results. Truth has been discounted and denied because those responsible for carrying truth failed. A nation that was started and established on Christian values and standards cannot possibly run successfully without continuing in that pursuit. A decline will, therefore, continue to occur even as other authoritative concepts and leaders come to the forefront to guide the nation.

“Religious affiliation in the United States is at its lowest point since it began to be tracked in the 1930s, according to analysis of newly released survey data by researchers from the University of California, Berkeley, and Duke University. Last year, one in five Americans claimed they had no religious preference, more than double the number reported in 1990.” Source: http://newscenter.berkeley.edu/2013/03/12/non-believers; Americans and religion increasingly parting ways, new survey shows; article by Yasmin Anwar, Media Relations, March 12, 2013.

Rise of the Unchurched  (Statistical data available at:  http://sda.berkeley.edu/archive.htm)

Churches will continue to sing, shout, preach, evangelize and have large crowds and followings though it will not much matter to those that make national decisions. Christians must now understand that they are no longer considered as significant players in the scheme of American society. Their theology and beliefs will continue to be mocked by the media and the government because they failed to prove that they were real or relevant to society.

If you understand these things then you will understand the truth of Scriptures that foretell of Christians suffering great persecution, Antichrist force of converts, and the eventual acceptance of the Man of Perdition in the end times. The failure of the church to produce Christian virtue because of a lukewarm gospel and a rebellious generation predicts further decline and erosion as prophesied by the bible prophets. A Christian focus on ritual church attendance and a prosperity gospel will not have the foresight to understand or pull out of this decline. The bible describes this Christian population as the “sleeping church.” They will not be alarmed by the worsening events of the day such as: Ebola, local and international violence, Christian controversies, the economy, disease, or moral decay. Though they read this article and others similar to it, they refuse to arise to Christian action because they are relaxed in a Christian lethargy where they believe God will take care of it all and protect them. They have not understood the gospel!

This decline is the reason why the Spirit was speaking to my heart: “You are being corrected because you did not bring correction.” I have been taught through the Spirit to discern the corrective Hand of God. But I, too, was ignoring some signs because of the cares of this world. God expects and commands Christians to exercise righteous rule and judgment in the land where He places them. Many do not realize that the heaviness we hear in the news is the consequence of Christian neglect and the failure of leaders to lead properly. God is disappointed in our Christian progress. We hear it through Prophet Isaiah:

Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the LORD hath spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me. Isa 1:2

Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint. Isa 1:5

To those that would say that this was written about people way back then, hear this: History runs in cycles and we are repeating days like those of Nineveh and of Sodom and Gomorrah. We are making the same mistakes as Rome, who had great power, and whose senators plotted to overthrow their leader and take authority for themselves. But while Rome was enjoying revelry and conspiracy, the barbarians were at the door ready for takeover. Those that are true believers that are yet grieved over the lost state of our nation can still do much to promote Christ and save souls. Individuals will continue to pursue and work for Christ but the nation has made some wrong choices and will go through a fiery furnace of trouble before repenting and turning back to God or God will destroy the work of equity. God is looking for the nation to weep over the trouble it is experiencing, repent and return back to God. God is a loving God and does not want to see any perish but there will be many who will endure punishment for an eternity because of unbelief in the Lord Jesus Christ. Can the church community still be reached and turn back to the True God? Remember the lessons of the New Testament Jews. Many did not accept Christ and the nation went through much suffering as a result. We have heard the stories but people unfortunately do not recognize themselves in the bible stories. Forecasts are everywhere that America will suffer great disaster but its people are like the Romans and Jews who believed they were too great to fall. God will continue to show America her sins, as it is being revealed in the daily news, and some people will continue to rebel against God as the bible predicts, but it does not have to be the reader. Until the end, there will still be converts who will turn to God and accept Jesus as their Messiah and Lord who died on the cross (John 3:16).

“We knew this day would arrive. The ‘slippery slope’ of morality has now become a proverbial landslide of moral morass. What seemed to be a slow decline has now exponentially accelerated. The parading and applauding of all things unbiblical and immoral has reached its zenith on the shoulders of the autonomous self, where me, myself, and I are the arbiters of all things truthful and spiritual. Gone is any reference to transcendent authority…How does one live as a Christian in an era where same-sex marriage is now the norm, where homosexuality is openly celebrated, where hypocrisy in the church is consistently exposed, where atheism is not just an alternative intellectual option, but a hostile enemy, where Christianity is viewed as the enemy and not the founder and friend of America, and where the “spiritual shallowness” of many Christians, especially evangelical Christians, is being exposed for what it is – an Americanized version of cultural Christianity that is not authentic, genuine, or biblically orthodox?” Source: Christian Post, The Truth About Post-Christian America, By Kevin Shrum, Guest Columnist, May 27, 2014.

America can even now still decide to bring correction in the land against evil doers and unrighteous leaders to be spared the wickedness that is being sent from the Hand of God as punishment. God chastens whom He loves but He also destroys the wicked so that righteousness can prevail. Warnings are sent to prevent the disaster before it arrives. Christ preached truth so that every believer would know the way even if their leaders departed from the right way, even in the church (John 10, 16). Every person must know also that some leaders will never turn around but every one is responsible for their own salvation. And not every one who says “Lord, Lord” will be spared. While America struggles to decide what is right, we must know the Lord for ourselves. God is a God of Love and of Vengeance.

Bible References

Now for the believers, let me share some scripture references with you.

And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. Act 2:40

…Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Rom12:19

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. Gal 6:7-8

But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out. Num32:23

Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die… Eze 33:11

For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. 1Co 11:31

I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren. 1Co 6:5

Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? 1Co 6:2

For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within? But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person. 1Co 5:12-13

There are some people that are waiting for God to come in and bring correction when He has already given you the Word of God to bring correction in your house before the house is destroyed. Note below how God deals with leaders that do not uphold His name but also remember that every true Christian is called into the priesthood (1Pe 2:9):

Moses

And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the LORD met him, and sought to kill him. Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet, and said, Surely a bloody husband art thou to me. So he let him go: then she said, A bloody husband thou art, because of the circumcision. Exo 4:24-26

Get thee up into this mountain Abarim, unto mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab, that is over against Jericho; and behold the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel for a possession: And die in the mount whither thou goest up, and be gathered unto thy people; as Aaron thy brother died in mount Hor, and was gathered unto his people: Deu 32:51 Because ye trespassed against me among the children of Israel at the waters of Meribah-Kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin; because ye sanctified me not in the midst of the children of Israel. Deu 32:49 -50

Eli, (Priest of the Lord)

In that day I will perform against Eli all things which I have spoken concerning his house: when I begin, I will also make an end. For I have told him that I will judge his house for ever for the iniquity which he knoweth; because his sons made themselves vile, and he restrained them not. 1Sa 3:12-13

David

And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul; And I gave thee thy master’s house, and thy master’s wives into thy bosom, and gave thee the house of Israel and of Judah; and if that had been too little, I would moreover have given unto thee such and such things. Wherefore hast thou despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in his sight? thou hast killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast taken his wife to be thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon. 2Sa 12:7-9

From our house, to the pulpit, to the White House; we have failed to uphold righteousness and the name of the Lord. Can anyone deny that we are seeing God show us His displeasure? What shall we do about it?

Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes. Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out. And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. Joh 12:30 -32

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2Ch 7:14

Truth for the Unbelievers

To those that are not leaders but laypersons, believers and nonbelievers; God will hear your cry if you turn to Him. Every individual has a soul to be saved and an opportunity to call upon the name of the Lord for him or herself. You do not have to have a preacher or be in church to call upon the Lord and be saved. Do it now, where you are, like you are; and the Lord will hear your sincere prayer.

Jer 33:3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

Jer 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
Isa 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

Jer 29:12 Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.

Joh 3:15-17 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

Zec 1:2 The LORD hath been sore displeased with your fathers. Zec 1:3 Therefore say thou unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Turn ye unto me, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will turn unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. Zec 1:4 Be ye not as your fathers, unto whom the former prophets have cried, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Turn ye now from your evil ways, and from your evil doings: but they did not hear, nor hearken unto me, saith the LORD.

Rev 22:7 Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.

Many have not believed in God because of false teaching and the failure of some churches to uphold the Word of the Lord but God will hold each of us responsible for our own actions. He is appealing to each of us through the media as men use the best experts for inquiry through logic on the world stage to find answers for today’s dilemma, through the convenience of internet search and social media, and through the signs in the sky and in the earth. But are we understanding or hearing the voice of the Lord through these troubling times? Jesus is yet reaching out to every soul He died to save from the wrath to come. Some will not hear because of the abundance of pleasures, entertainment and toys that occupy their days.

Rom 1:18-25 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
Behold, the LORD’S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: Isa 59:1

Act 2:18-21 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come: And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Just What in the World is Going On?

The revelatory understanding that God gave me was this: The national crisis we are facing will be resolved as we correct ourselves from within on every level. But if we do not correct ourselves, the correcting rod is being applied and waits at the door. But can we stop the declining trend of unbelief?

It is my hope that the reader will be able to see in my example that it was only after I was willing to accept my correction that God gave me light to see how to help myself and others. That is the lesson. Now I must turn to correct the things God showed me. God brings correction to everyone, one way or another. If we accept God’s warnings and correction then He can use us to help others and His light will shine in every dark place to give light for righteousness. Remember Jesus said that you shall know the truth and the truth would make you free; not democracy, congress, president, America, supreme court, church, information or money, but the truth shall make you free.
God gave Jesus on the cross so that each one of us could have forgiveness of our worst sin. God loves you with an everlasting love.

QUESTIONING THE AUTHORITY OF GOD

The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament  sheweth his handywork.  Psa 19:1

There are many different interpretations of who God is and what name He or “she” should be called.  The more people you talk to the more variety of ways you find about people’s beliefs about God.  Some people insist that God is male while others insist that God is female.  Some people believe God is only a spirit that never came in the flesh body of Jesus Christ. Some people call God Allah, some Jehovah, some Buddha, or various other names for pagan gods and some call Him Lord or Jesus.  There is so much confusion in the area of religious faith even among professing Christians. Some Christians are changing long-held beliefs and teachings about who God is in order to follow the world’s beliefs. History reveals that there have always been times of dissension from the faith as people threw off religious restraints to follow the world into the fleeting pleasures of sin.

One sure thing is that if you diligently seek God, you will find Him (Mat 7:7; Psa 91:15; Act 17:27).  The One True God, who is Sovereign over the world, wants to be found even though He is ever so close to each of us, directing our lives into that discovery. Jesus is today revealing Himself to people who are Muslims, Buddhists, spiritualists, atheists and agnostics. Someone said concerning man’s faith in difficult situations: “There are no atheists in a foxhole”.  There is an inner knowing in every person that realizes there is a God.  God is the Creator Who gives every man the breathe of life and He has declared through Apostle Paul’s writings His efforts to reach to every soul:

Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. Rom 1:19-21

From the native Indian and African tribes, who believed in spirits; to the erroneous Gnostics Christians, who were spiritualists; to today’s debate about the names, forms and person of God’s Messenger; there have been constant controversies in belief about God.  Religious wars have been fought between Christians and Muslims during the 10th through 12th centuries A.D Crusades and religious disagreement still exists.  But even those, like Saul (Act 9:5) who  resist the Christian faith, are still being led to the discovery of who God is in Jesus Christ and will to know Him eventually as Judge or Lord.

God uses the Word of God to appeal to all kinds of people. Here are just a few categories:

  • Scientists – the bible declares the beginning of all things that is being confirmed by science. The accurate accounting of time itself requires the bible confirmation of the day lost when God held up time for a day of battling Israel’s enemy. George Washington Carver, a black scientist, asked God for help and made hundreds of discoveries from the peanut.
  • Poets – David was an avid writer of songs and poetry as inspired by God, as was his son, Solomon, who wrote Proverbs.
  • Intellectuals/Atheists – God answers the questions of skeptics and atheists in Job (Job 38:4), where God ask the question: Where was man when He, God, formed the world? Job’s confrontation by God caused him to shut his mouth from speaking (Job 40:4).
  • Astrology – the book of Matthew shows that the wisdom of the wisest men and  astrological study led them to seek the Christ, who would rule as king of kings and be Supreme Master of all possible wisdom. The wisdom of the bible still explains the mystery of the heavens and discusses past and future movements of the stars and moon.
  • Experts in Anatomy – God not only made the first man but also performed the first operation and discussed the physique, diseases and cures for the body before modern medicine and technology.
  • Psychiatrists –the causes of a deranged mind and the cure as well as the knowledge of developing and keeping a healthy mind are clearly explained in Scripture (Is 26:3).
  • Architects – Jesus, known as the Chief Corner Stone, a tried stone, a precious corner-stone and a sure foundation instructs throughout Scripture the building a sure house.
  • The Rich or Impoverish – Job the richest man of his time described God as He who gives and takes away. Satan is actually the thief, but God is the gracious Giver of wealth.
  • Men of Strength or Weakness – the examples of Samson and Gideon show that God can use either weak or strong men because the source of the power is God, who works through men.
  • Athletes and Artists – the strongest man (Samson) and wisest man (Solomon) were given strength by God, as were all the men gifted in workmanship for building the Temple.
  • Sexual Perverts – In Romans One, God challenged mankind about their original gender, sexual purpose and their end through rebellion.
  • Idolaters and False Prophets – were put to the test by God through the leadership of Moses and Elijah to settle issue of who is really God.  False gods were overthrown by God.
  • Power Brokers – God proved His supreme power by destruction of earth by flood, with the exception of eight people who trusted God and God promise destruction by fire in the end (Rev 9:18).

Regardless of the challenge or question, God has already answered it in His written word for everyone from the pauper to the King.  And because the end of the earth has already been written even before it occurs, we know that God will have the final word.  When asking the question:  Who is he, God has chosen to answer through what He does in the elements by fire, water; clouds; whirlwind; through His voice speaking in the mountain, bush or sky; through His prophets; the Word and finally through Jesus Christ.  He declares that “I AM that I AM” (Exo 3:14).  God is whatever we need Him to be at any time.  God is our Father, but promises to be a husband to the barren, our friend, our healer, our deliverer, etc.   Jesus calls believers His brethren.  God is:

  • El Shaddai (Lord God Almighty)
  • El Elyon (The Most High God)
  • Adonai (Lord, Master)
  • Yahweh (Lord, Jehovah)
  • Jehovah Nissi (The Lord My Banner)
  • Jehovah-Raah or Ro’i (The Lord My Shepherd)
  • Jehovah Rapha (The Lord That Heals)
  • Jehovah Shammah (The Lord Is There)
  • Jehovah Tsidkenu (The Lord Our Righteousness)
  • Jehovah Mekoddishkem (The Lord Who Sanctifies You)
  • El Olam (The Everlasting God)
  • Elohim (God) The Lord, Yahweh the God of Israel in contrast to false gods of other nations
  • Qanna (Jealous)
  • Jehovah Jireh (The Lord Will Provide)
  • Jehovah Shalom (The Lord Is Peace)
  • Jehovah Sabaoth (The Lord of Hosts)
  • Theos: Greek word translated “God.”
  • Kurios: Greek word translated “Lord.”
  • Despotes: Greek word translated “Master.”
  • Father: God becomes our personal Father, revelation through faith in Christ

The Word of God declares who God is but God is willing to prove Himself to anyone who personally challenges His authority as He did with the Old Testament King Nebuchadnezzar:

The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty? While the word was in the king’s mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee. And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will. The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles’ feathers, and his nails like birds’ claws. And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation: Dan 4:30-34

God proved Himself to idolatrous Israel through His prophet Elijah:

And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word. Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the LORD God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again. Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench. And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, The LORD, he is the God; the LORD, he is the God. 1Ki 18:36-39

Christians believe by faith what God has said about Himself in His Word and we accept the authority of what He has said.  This faith gives to the Christian righteous standing with God that unbelievers do not have.  Unbelievers may insist on proof of God but that proof is before them every day in the majesty of God’s earth while their harden hearts refuse to believe.  Yet the Long-Suffering Lord is willing to show up to win every soul.   He has spoken for Himself through the prophets of the Old and the New Testaments:

Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God. And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? and the things that are coming, and shall come, let them shew unto them. Isa 44:6-7

Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father’s name, they bear witness of me. But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. I and my Father are one. Joh 10:25-30

The question is not really about God, who needs not validation, but rather about man’s choosing to believe the God that IS.  If a man is without a harden heart, he can be persuaded by faith. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.  Salvation will come from the drawing of the Lord and the Holy Spirit’s personal dealings with man to convict him.  “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is…” (Heb 11:6).  Jesus spoke very clearly on our choice to believe:

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. Joh 3:17-21

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Joh 3:16
